Once you join, take a moment to explore the channels and familiarize yourself with the layout. Be sure to read the rules and guidelines in the #rules channel.
Step 2: Create Your Character
After joining the server, your next step is to create your character. Head over to our Character Creation Essentials page for a step-by-step guide on how to bring your survivor to life:
Once your character is ready, submit it in the #character-submissions channel on Discord. A moderator will review it and provide feedback if necessary. After approval, you’ll be ready to play!

Step 4: Learn the System
Darkbound uses the Mutant: Year Zero system as its foundation, which emphasizes survival, exploration, and resource management. Familiarizing yourself with the basics will enhance your experience and help you understand how to interact with the world.

Step 5: Dive into the Game
Once your character is approved, you’re ready to start exploring the wasteland! Roleplay takes place in designated threads on the Discord server. Check the #getting-started or #roleplay-guide channels for information about active threads, open roleplay opportunities, and server events.
If you’re new to play-by-post roleplaying, don’t worry—our community is welcoming and happy to help you get started. You can also post in the #looking-for-group channel if you want to signal your availability.
Step 6: Be Part of the Community
Engage with fellow players in the #ooc-chat (Out of Character Chat) channel, ask questions in #help, and share ideas to expand the world. The more you participate, the more immersive the experience becomes.
